A three-legged brass base from the collection of Stephen Sondheim

This is a very solid brass base that can be used for a variety of purposes. It is a little over 8" in diameter and 3.75" tall. It is excellent for displaying candles, but also for lifting up centerpieces, vases, edible displays etc. Perfect for a Christmas table display. It has great patina and judging from its semi-classical leg forms probably dates to the late Victorian/early Edwardian period. Sondheim had a particular fondness for pieces from that period. This was part of lot 100 in the June 18, 2024 Doyle auction of the Stephen Sondheim collection. It will be accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity indicating the date and lot number of the auction.
