Vintage game set of Diamino from the collection of Stephen Sondheim

A French-language game that seems akin to Scrabble. Complete with instructions, original box, and advertising ephemera. Looks to be from the 1950s. We don't know if Stephen was fluent in French, but he clearly had an appreciation for French culture. Also, there were a number of French games in his collection. He was an ardent admirer of word challenges so he may have tried his hand at this game whatever his level of French language proficiency.
