Substantial brass and copper "vase" from Sondheim estate

A very handsome execution of the classic combination of brass and copper in this substantial 5 pound, 7 inch tall object. It can certainly function as a vase, but that was probably not its original purpose given its weight. Sondheim appreciated pieces that reflected history and the warm patina of this piece certainly does that. It would be impressive with flowers on a tabletop or by itself on a bookshelf. It comes with its Doyle auction tag including the Al Hirschfeld caricature of Sondheim that provides attractive and tangible proof of its provenance.
