Solid brass pestle from Sondheim estate

A hefty, almost 12-ounce, 4.5" solid brass pestle with the aged patina that comes from years of handling. Although probably not its original use, you can imagine it holding down a stack of papers on Stephen Sondheim's desk. A burled wood block has been added to enhance the display impact of the piece in your home. Original auction tags remain and certify its authenticity as part of lot 100 in the June 18, 2024 Doyle auction of the Stephen Sondheim collection.
